Introduction for Raul Seixas’ album Novo Aeon 1975

Introduction and comments by Paulo Coelho about Raul Seixas’ third album Novo Aeon, released in 1975.

It is a very difficult task for me to write about Raul Seixas, as, being a partner of his in most of the songs, my emotional involvement with the work sometimes makes it impossible for me to have a purely journalistic vision, which would be suitable for this subject. In any case, I will try to describe more or less the work that has been developed since “Gita” was released, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new journey.
But what new kind of journey, exactly? It is often very difficult, almost impossible, to describe the kind of experience an artist has to have with himself in order for this experience to become a work of art, whether it is a book, a sculpture, or in this case a disc. Raul now releases a record called “New Aeon”. The title already has its strange side, but it means exactly all that was lived from July 74 to here. To get the job started, we need to define exactly what “New Aeon” means. It is a simple definition: dictionaries usually take two short lines to define words that we would spend a lifetime trying to figure out. “New Aeon” means, in esoteric language, a new age.
